How the tournament was run:
The first round was played as a round-robin format, with each team's first pair playing all of the other teams' first pairs, and likewise for the second pairs. After the anticipated delay getting everybody organised, and confirming the pairings, the tournament got underway just before 7:30pm. The team scoring the most points not including handicap, and the teams with the top three scores including handicap would progress to the finals.
At the end of the round, the ladies' table showed that Silver Fox had the best non-handicap score, with
164 points, only four points ahead of second-placed Carlile.
In the Mens half, Three of Clubs A narrowly beat Reading & Country's non-handicap score by a single point. They were joined in the finals by Windsor Phoenix, Flying Rackets and Syngenta. As with the Ladies' results, the Mens table was very close. Reading & Country missed out on getting into the finals on the basis of their handicap score by just two points. In the finals, each team played two more sets of games, with handicaps adjusted based on their performance in the first round. At the end of these games, the scores for the entire evening were accumulated to form the final table. The Ladies' non-handicap winner was Silver Fox, with 224 points, beating the next closest team by 17 points. However Carlile had enough handicap points to overtake Silver Fox's score, meaning that they took the Ladies handicap winner tropy home. The Mens' non-handicap winner was Three of Clubs A, by a margin of 23 points. And the Mens' handicap winner was Windsor Phoenix by a margin of just 16 points. |
